Historic Buildings Adapted. Repair and re-use of old and often historic buildings forms a major part of the range projects undertaken by Robinson Thorne Architects. The careful alteration of existing buildings for contemporary uses provides specific challenges which always require a highly individual site specific and customised approach. Such an approach has been at the heart of the work undertaken by RTA over the last twenty five years.

Longwall Quad, a 1930's extension by Giles Gilbert Scott of the St Swithuns Building by Bodley and Garner, now houses the Bursary, residential accommodation and tutorial rooms. The 1985 conversion by RTA marked the start of a series of projects to improve, extend and upgrade living accommodation throughout the College. Further works were carried out in 2002 to relocate the Bursary.
